My Love Affair with France

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s been a busy and exciting time lately, with wonderful reviews of Paris Mon Amour appearing all over the place – one reader wrote to me when she finished it at 2am! It’s so interesting and rewarding hearing what people make of it (and everyone sees something a bit different), so a very big thank you to everyone who has bought it, read it, told their friends and especially reviewed the book so far. That makes a real difference to a debut author.

Support from my fellow bloggers has been amazing – here are a few more posts that I’ve been invited to contribute.  There are many more to come in the weeks ahead:

Today I’m visiting fellow francophile Avril Joy’s blog talking about My Love Affair with France.  It’s a story that started years before I was born.

In this piece for the Women Writers’ blog, I discuss Writing about Love, why it’s not a trivial subject and how gender bias can affect the way works of fiction are perceived.

Last weekend I was Jan Ruth’s guest In the Chair and her questions made me engage with my characters Alexandra and Jean-Luc in new and surprising ways!

If you’ve got a holiday or some time off planned and are in need of book tips, check out my Summer Reads 2016 – I’m not easy to impress but all of these won me over in a big way and some of the authors have since appeared on the Literary Sofa. And if that’s enough, try Hot Picks 2016!

I’ll continue to do the occasional round-up for the benefit of blog followers who aren’t on Twitter or Facebook.

The photos above were taken in Lourmarin, one of my favourite small towns in the Lubéron area of Provence so loved by me and my family.  (It’s also where Camus, one of my literary heroes, is buried though I’ve never understood why!)  Below is the terrace of the gîte where we will be spending more lazy sunny days next month, outside the village of Ménerbes.

  1. Poor old France. It’s getting an awful bashing at the moment. Its people could do with our love and support.
